At Embassy West, our memory care services create a safe and stimulating environment for those with dementia– including its most common form, Alzheimer’s disease. Our team of caregivers receive some of the most stringent training in the industry to ensure we provide the best care and meet the unique needs of residents struggling with dementia.

Strong Leadership and Dementia Expertise

Our Memory Care Services are overseen by our in house geriatric doctor and Dementia expert, Dr. Bill Dalziel.  Together, Dr. Dalziel and our highly specialized management team mentor our entire network of caregivers and nurses and ensure we are providing quality care, stimulating activities, and a secure environment for residents with Dementia.

A Supportive and Familiar Environment

Comforting and secure spaces

Our memory care community provides highly secure personal and communal spaces. Private studios offer a place for quiet, rest, and personal care. Shared spaces indoors and outdoors provide room to gather, socialize, share meals, exercise, and engage in familiar activities.

Familiar Surroundings

We know that familiarity is especially important for our dementia residents so we actively try to engage their memory with personal effects. Memory boxes at each resident’s door display personal photos, newspaper clippings, and objects that reflect their most precious memories.  We also use music, aromatherapy, and touch and feel boards that rotate around the residence floor.

Meaningful Actvities

We understand that purposeful activities help our residents feel engaged, connected, and valued.  It is important that all of our residents participate in activities that are geared to their unique needs.  We develop a specialized activity program for residents on our Dementia floor.  Activities often include:

  • Crafts
  • Sensory Cart
  • Baking
  • Storytelling
  • Music Therapy
  • Art Therapy
